Descriptions of Gr12 titanium plates

Grade 12 titanium plates is also called titanium molybdenum nickel alloy plates. The nominal composition is Ti-0.3Mo-0.8Ni. Sometimes people also call grade 12 as Ti-12 alloy. The tensile strength of grade 12 titanium sheets in room temperature is twice higher than pure titanium grade 1, and much higher than titanium grade 2.

AS we all know that Grade 7 titanium plates also have excellent corrosion resistance. People may ask that what’s the difference between grade 7 titanium plates and grade 12 titanium sheets? Let’s compare with two aspects.

First of all, mechanical properties(at room temperature)

Tensile strength : Gr7 345 Mpa min / Gr12 483 Mpa min

Yield strength: Gr7 275 Mpa min/ Gr12 345 Mpa min

Conclusion: Gr2 titanium plates are stronger than Grade 7 titanium plates when the thickness is the same.

Secondly, the price. Grade 12 titanium plates’ price is much lower than grade 7 titanium plates. Considering the first aspect, Gr12 titanium sheets are with higher strength and excellent corrosion resistance, they can be used with thinner thickness under the same condition. So most of the time, gr12 titanium plates are economical and the best choice for project.
