titanium anodizing

Titanium anodizing is a kind of interference in surface color film technology. It improves the material decorative and artistic value of titanium.  The film layer is color bright, corrosion resistant, binding and has excellent biological solubility. It is commonly used in the contemporary biomedical engineering industry and aerospace industry. 


Titanium anodizing is using titanium as the anode, with stainless steel or titanium and other metal materials as the cathode, relying on a certain acidic or alkaline electrolyte solution, by electrochemical reaction to promote titanium surface generation of titanium oxide film. The layer of oxide film itself is colorless transparent and its reflection and refraction of light is stronger. Titanium natural oxide film does not present a color, mainly because of the natural formation of titanium oxide film is very thin only dozens of A, through anodizing, it can form hundreds of A or even dozens of μ m titanium oxide film on the surface. Different thickness through the interference of light show different color. Titanium oxide film does not need to add elements and produce color more safe and reliable. Titanium oxide thin film is hard and corrosion resistance. Titanium anodizing is widely used in engineering and construction, aviation companies, medicine and other industries.


The production processes of titanium anodizing  are : titanium products -  cleaning -  anodizing- cleaning - sealing - dry.


  1. Cleaning : Cleaning is to better remove the grease, oil, oxidation skin and large defects remaining on the surface layer of titanium after mechanical processing. Make the titanium surface clean enough to produce solid and stable oxide film after anodizing.


  2. Anodizing: the treated titanium products as the anode, put into the configured electrolyte solution, stainless steel or titanium as the cathode, after electricity can see the color will produce different changes with the increase of voltage from the initial 5V copper color to about 110V green.


  3. Cleaning and Sealing: In order to better improve the anti-pollution resistance of the anodized membrane, the flow water of the anodized product cleaned and removes the surface electrolyte solution, and put it into 80 deionized water for 20 minutes.


  4. Dry : After sealing, wipe the water on the product surface and put it in the oven for drying.


At present, Etermetal can provide the following anodizing colors:  purple, pink, green, yellow, burnt blue, gray.  Before ordering, we can provide sample for color confirm. After sample confirmed and get agreement from clients, we will start the bulk production and the color would be the same as sample.
