PVD coating used on titanium


More and more vacuum coating processing are used on titanium alloys.  People not only pursue product quality but also begin to pay attention to titanium surface finish. In this article,  we will mainly talk about PVD vacuum coating used on titanium components. Hope it helps.

 

PVD is short for physical vapor deposition. It refers to the film preparation technology that physically makes the material deposited on the coated product under vacuum conditions. It’s a very complicated process using low voltage, high current arc-discharge technology and acceleration of the electric fields .

 

 features of PVD coating film layer 

After using PVD coating technology, the coating film layer is with high hardness, high wear resistance (low friction coefficient), good corrosion resistance and chemical stability and other characteristics. The layer has a longer service life too. At the same time,  it can greatly improve the appearance and decorative performance of the components.

 

The color of PVD coating on titanium can be controlled by controlling the relevant parameters in the coating process. Now we can successfully coat titanium components into golden, black, rainbow color, burnt blue colors. The appearance of the coating depends on the original surface of the components. No matter the original surface of the titanium component is cnc machined or polished , the surface after pvd coating will be bright.  The only difference is that it would be brighter if the components original surface is brighter.
