Many new products have appeared in our lives, among which the most recognized product is the titanium alloy plate. The main component of a titanium alloy plate is titanium element, and other elements are added to it. Titanium alloy sheets not only have very low density, very high strength, and strong corrosion resistance but also have very good craftsmanship. Nowadays, titanium alloy sheets are often used in the aviation industry, so let me tell you in detail next. If you have knowledge about titanium alloy plates, we hope that our shared content will be helpful to everyone.
Alloys made of titanium to which other elements have been added are known as titanium alloys. Titanium has two kinds of allotropic crystals: below 882°C is close-packed hexagonal structure α-titanium, and above 882°C is body-centered cubic β-titanium.
Alloying elements can be divided into three groups according to their effect on the phase transition temperature:
1. Stable elements like aluminum, carbon, oxygen and nitrogen raise the phase transition temperature and stabilize the phase. Aluminum is the primary alloying element of titanium alloy among them, and it has obvious impacts on the alloy's strength at low and high temperatures, as well as on its specific gravity and elastic modulus.
2. The elements that stabilize the β-phase and lower the phase transition temperature are β-stable elements, which can be divided into two types: isocrystal and eutectoid. Titanium alloy products are applied, the former includes molybdenum, niobium, vanadium, etc.; the latter include chromium, manganese, copper, iron, silicon, etc.
3. Neutral elements like zirconium and tin, for example, have little impact on the phase transition temperature.
In titanium alloys, oxygen, nitrogen, carbon, and hydrogen are the primary impurities. The considerable solubility of oxygen and nitrogen in the phase significantly strengthens titanium alloys while lowering their fluidity. Typically, titanium must have oxygen and nitrogen concentration below 0.15 to 0.2% and 0.04 to 0.05 percent, respectively. Because hydrogen is only very weakly soluble in the phase, adding too much hydrogen to a titanium alloy will cause the alloy to form hydrides and become fragile. The hydrogen concentration in titanium alloy is typically kept under 0.015%. Titanium's hydrogen dissolution is reversible and can be stopped with vacuum annealing.
Shaanxi Etermetal Co., Ltd. is a professional titanium plate factory, we hope that everyone can better understand the knowledge of titanium alloy plates through our shared content. Titanium alloy sheets are becoming more and more important in our lives, and titanium alloy sheets play a very important role in our aerospace industry. The performance of titanium alloy sheet is stable, it cannot prevent oxidation, and titanium alloy sheet also has very strong corrosion resistance, and there are many types of titanium alloy sheets.
