For titanium ore, titanium exists in a very stable state. If the titanium ore is refined into unstable titanium metal without any treatment on the surface, the titanium metal surface often exists in a particularly unstable state. However, in order to meet the needs of production technology, it is necessary to perform surface treatment on metals and their titanium alloys to achieve a stable surface with certain functions, which requires the use of surface treatment technology. It can be roughly divided into the following general surface treatment methods according to physical methods and chemical methods.
1. Surface treatment
(1) Surface heat treatment
① Surface quenching;
② Surface carburizing, nitriding, carbonitriding ~ atmosphere;
③ Infiltration of metal.
(2) Chemical treatment (chemical conversion film): The methods of chemically producing a protective film on the metal surface include oxidation, bluish or blackening, phosphating, passivation, chromium salt treatment, etc.
(3) Cleaning disposal: mechanical finishing, chemical cleaning, ultrasonic cleaning, laser cleaning, etc.
2. External mechanical hardening treatment
(1) Cold hardening;
(2) rolling method;
(3) Shot peening.
3. EDM surface treatment
(1) EDM alloying on the surface;
(2) Micro-arc oxidation;
(3) EDM deposition surface treatment;
(4) EDM hardening;
(5) Electron beam surface treatment;
(6) Plasma spraying;
(7) Laser surface treatment.
4. Surface coating
(1) Mechanical coating: brushing, spraying, dipping, pouring (organic coating);
(2) Chemical coating: chemical plating, gilding, chemical vapor deposition, liquid deposition, etc.;
(3) Hot coating method: hot dipping (hot-dip galvanizing), thermal spraying metal or non-metal;
(4) Electrocoating and chemical coating: electroplating, electrophoresis, electrostatic spraying, physical vapor deposition, chemical plating, molten plating, dispersed immersion plating, etc.;
(5) Plating: The use of rubber and synthetic resins to coat a thick protective film on the metal surface in order to protect the metal.
(6) Paint coating is the approach that is used the most frequently. This method is implemented for the purpose of anti-corrosion and beauty, and it has a limit of several years.
